Founded in 2007 and based in Calgary, Alberta, Highpoint Developments is a full-service real estate development company with nearly 20 years of experience in property management and real estate development. Highpoint specializes in housing-led projects including student housing, multi-family, mixed-use, and community-oriented developments. Our work is guided by careful analysis, respect for local context, and a commitment to buildings that endure.
Our Story
Highpoint was founded by Husein Moloo following firsthand experience with the challenges of student housing while studying at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Recognizing the need for better-quality, well-managed, and affordable student accommodations, the company began with a clear objective: to improve the student living experience through thoughtful redevelopment and responsible property management.
In its early years, Highpoint focused on student housing across Ontario, completing 48 conversions and renovations in Kingston, Windsor, and St. Catharines, representing approximately 650 beds. During this period, the company also initiated and delivered five ground-up student housing developments, adding more than 437 purpose-built beds to the market. This work established Highpoint’s disciplined approach to acquisition, redevelopment, approvals, and long-term asset performance.
Over the past several years, Highpoint has transitioned its focus to Western Canada, driven by a return to its Calgary roots and an expanding development platform. The company completed its final Ontario student housing projects in 2023 and has since delivered or advanced a growing portfolio of multi-family and mixed-use developments across Alberta and British Columbia. These include rental and condominium projects in Banff, Edmonton, Canmore, and Kelowna, with additional projects currently in pre-construction.
Today, Highpoint distinguishes itself through a comprehensive, end-to-end development approach, encompassing site selection, feasibility, design coordination, approvals, construction delivery, and long-term asset management. The firm is supported by a multidisciplinary team with expertise in development, finance, law, construction, and property management, enabling collaborative decision-making and consistent execution across markets.
